On August 12, 2021, a man was airlifted to hospital after crashing his bicycle on Rottnest Island near Perth. The incident occurred at around 3:45 pm local time and involved a 48-year-old male cyclist who was riding along the island's main road when he lost control of his bike and crashed into a tree.

According to reports, the man suffered serious injuries in the crash, including head trauma, a broken leg, and multiple cuts and bruises. He was transported to Fremantle Hospital via helicopter for treatment.

Rottnest Island is a popular tourist destination located about 19 kilometers off the coast of Perth. It is known for its beautiful beaches, historic buildings, and wildlife, including quokkas, which are small marsupials native to the island. The island also has several cycling tracks that allow visitors to explore its scenic beauty at their own pace.

It is not clear what caused the man to lose control of his bike in this incident. However, it is important to note that accidents can happen when cyclists are not paying attention to their surroundings or when they are riding too fast for conditions. It is always recommended to wear a helmet and follow traffic rules when cycling on public roads.
