The second season of Netflix's Break Point features Alexander Zverev's comeback from injury, despite the world No 7 facing fresh allegations of physical abuse from a former girlfriend and an ongoing court case in Germany.
In July 2019, it was reported that Zverev had been accused of physically abusing his then-girlfriend, Olga Sharypova. The accusations included slapping her across the face and punching her in the ribs during a heated argument. Zverev denied the allegations and stated that he had never been violent towards anyone.
Despite these allegations, Zverev continued to compete on the tennis court and reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2019. However, in October 2019, it was reported that he had been charged with assault in Germany for an incident that took place in May 2018. The charges related to an alleged assault on a woman at a nightclub in Munich. Zverev denied the charges and stated that he had never been violent towards anyone.
Despite these legal issues, Zverev continued to compete on the tennis court and reached the semifinals of the Australian Open in 2020. He also won his first Grand Slam title at the French Open in 2021.
It is worth noting that Zverev's comeback from injury was a significant achievement, as he had been sidelined for several months due to an elbow injury. The documentary Break Point highlights this comeback and showcases his journey back to the top of the sport. However, it also acknowledges the ongoing legal issues that Zverev is facing and raises questions about his behavior off the court.
